Heres_yet_another_addition_to_my_collection_of_hard-as-hell_Van_Halen_tabs.

But_this_one_is_probably_the_easiest_of_the_bunch.__The_interesting_thing

about_this_song_is_that_the_main_riff_is_played_on_a_special_six-string

bass/guitar.__The_bass/guitar_is_an_instrument_that_Ernie_Ball/Music_Man

makes_(as_far_as_I_know,_theyre_the_only_ones_who_make_em)_that_is

supposedly_"the_guitar_for_bassists,_and_the_bass_for_guitarists".__Its

BASS-ically_(ha,_ha)_a_guitar_with_open_strings_that_are_tuned_an_octave

down_from_normal_guitars.__The_strings_are_the_same_(E-A-D-G-B-E),_but

theyre_an_octave_lower.__Its_a_pretty_cool_idea,_I_wish_I_had_1200_bucks

to_spend_on_one.__Anyway,_apparently_Van_Halens_producer_(whose_name

escapes_me_at_the_moment)_brought_this_thing_into_the_studio_one_day_and

Eddie_decided_to_plug_it_into_his_5150_stack_and_liked_the_sound_it_got_so

they_decided_to_use_it_for_the_ominous_verse_and_chorus_riffs_to_"Spanked".

For_live_performances,_Eddie_uses_a_hybrid_double-neck_with_his_signature

guitar_on_top,_and_this_bass/guitar_on_the_bottom.__Im_not_entirely_sure

how_they_arrange_the_parts_between_him_and_Michael_Anthony_when_they_play

live,_but_heres_the_album_version_of_"Spanked"_from_For_Unlawful_Carnal
